Today Joe turned 6!!!!
Growth Stats
Height - 47.75 in. (88th percentile)
Weight - 52 lbs. (81st percentile)
Big thing on his wish list for his birthday....Bakugan!! They're like transformers and
Beyblades mixed into one. They're actually pretty cool. Lucky for him, Grandma
delivered with the huge red Bakugan he had his eye on. He was SO excited!!
Add to that an amazingly cool pair of T-rex Converse that Ryan picked out, various other
Bakugan and a Rubik's Cube (another wish list item) and we had one satisfied birthday boy!
Ryan drew him a big Bakugan for what is quickly becoming a birthday drawing tradition.
So cool (and impressive)!
When I make a mental snapshot of Joe right now, the words inquisitive and persistent come
to mind. He is so smart and is always asking questions. When you think of your typical kid
whose line of questioning goes something like, "Why...but why....but why.."...that's Joe!
His questions are well thought out and instead of simply taking an answer,
he truly wants to understand why things are the way they are.
And he takes persistence to another level. I guess with two sales people for parents, it's no
wonder where he gets it from. This kid will not take no for an answer. At least not the first
time. There are always multiple rounds of asking, in different ways, before he accepts no.
And sometimes even that is a challenge. I may get frustrated with it now,
but I know that later on in life that is going to serve him SO well!!
Joe loves to entertain people. He tries to make jokes and say and do silly things to make
people laugh. He's also really creative. He loves drawing, coloring, making projects and
most anything artsy. One of his favorite birthday gifts was a "Learn to Draw" set from the
Mathis'. As soon as he opened it, he sat down and went to work on it. He loved it!
He's growing up day by day and gaining more confidence along the way. We've called him
Joe Joe for as long as I can remember, but recently he let us know that his name is just Joe,
not Joe Joe. He loves playing with friends, but is also totally comfortable keeping himself
busy. He LOVES his brothers and I think it means a lot to him that Owen is at school with
him now. Every morning when the bell rings before school, he watches for Owen and
gets a hug before they go to their individual lines to go inside. It's really sweet!
Joe can be a bit emotional and gets upset easily, but we're really working on what things
are big hurts vs little hurts and the appropriate response for each.
Joe, we love you SO SO SO SO SO much and love watching you grow into an amazing
kid! You're going to do incredible things with you're life and we're so excited to watch!
Happy Birthday!!!! We love you even bigger than space!!
