More Please!!

Today was the 3rd day we gave Owen rice cereal.

The first day he did ok at first, but then started gagging.
The second day there was no gagging, but he didn't eat all that much either.
The third day was the turning point.

We started with one teaspoon of cereal mixed with milk.
He devoured that bowl no problem.

So I made a second bowl.
That one went down just as easy.

So we went to a third bowl.
He would have licked it clean if he could have.  :)

He was much happier this time around and even tried to
hold the spoon on his very own.

The funniest part was when we would move the spoon away to wipe
some dribbles off of Owen's chin, he would follow the spoon
still trying to eat what was left on it.

I think we definitely have a good little eater on our hands.
I'm having so much fun with this and am looking forward to all of the other fun
foods we get to try.

Jumping Bean

Someone figured out how his jumperoo works.  :)

So it Begins....

Owen had his very first taste of rice cereal last night.

He actually did pretty well with it at first,

but either he got too full or too tired,

And he decided he'd had enough.
Once the gagging started, we decided to call it a night.

There's always tomorrow little buddy.
Don't worry, you'll get the hang of it soon.

Just Cruisin'

In my opinion there is nothing better than
just cruisin' on the lake.

Owen seemed to have mixed reviews,

But overall he seemed to really enjoy himself.

He even got to take a turn driving the boat.  :)

We had a great time relaxing in Minocqua
and loved being able to introduce Owen to the great North woods.
Hopefully there will be many more trips to come.

O Captain! My Captain!

While his dad and Aunt Val decided to get some exercise and swim over
to the island and back,

Owen and I decided to try out the captain's seat on the pontoon boat.

Though I am normally up for a good swim, I was MORE than happy to stay
back with Owen for one reason and one reason only.

Can you say water snake????  SICK!!
That's all I need to see in the water to stay clear.
You can have the lake all to yourself my friend.  I will not be bothering you.

A Day at the Beach

Our first full day in Minocqua we decided to go explore the town.
We walked around the little shops, making a very special
stop at Dan's Fudge for what ended up being a
3 pound bag of Salt Water Taffy.
Just one of our Minocqua traditions.  :)

Then we made our way over to the beach.
Owen loved putting his feet in and just letting the water rush up over his toes.

Little Miss Ruby seemed to love her first lake experience too.

After he dried off, Owen decided he just wanted to relax,

and spend some extra special bonding time with Daddy

and Mommy.

Road Trip

This past weekend we made the long 5.5 hour drive up to Minocqua, WI.
It has become somewhat of an annual tradition with Tim, Val, Ryan and I,
and as the years go on we keep adding more and more
kiddos to the journey.

This year was Owen's very first trip.
We had everything packed and ready to go so we could leave
bright and early Wednesday morning.  And when I say everything, I mean nearly
everything!  I knew there was a reason we bought an SUV.  When you're
carting around a Pack n Play, a Bumbo seat, a Boppy Pillow,
pump equipment, bottles, etc, you need somewhere to put it all.

One the great things about Minocqua is we get to drive right through Wausau
on our way there.  So this year it worked out perfectly with Owen.
We got in the car after he woke up so he had a little bit of time
to be awake, and then he slept the entire way to Wausau.

He woke up just in time to visit with some of his favorite people.

Then we got back in the car to finish the last hour long stretch of the drive.
He slept right through that too.  Way to go Owen!!
Nice work on your first long road trip to the North Woods.  :)

Addiction

I just have to say that I did not realize how
addicted I was to blogging, until I had to go 5 days without it!
There were SO many times I just wanted to upload some pictures
and write about all the fun we were having, but being up in
northern WI, with no WI-FI made it a little difficult.

Today I am very thankful that I can sit at my
very own computer, upload as many pictures as I want
and write until my heart is content.  There's a lot to write about,
and lots of pictures to share so get a cup of coffee because this is
going to be a long one.  :)

Homework Complete!

Day One doing our homework = Success!!

So far today he's sat in the jumper, Bumbo chair, and bjorn.
No time was spent on his back (except for naps of course).

While he was extremely focused on his work,
you can't blame a little guy for wanting to sneak a peek of the Bachelorette.
It's easy to get distracted with such exciting TV playing behind you.

One day some girl is going to be very, very lucky to land a great catch like you...
Just like I was with your dad.  :)

6 Months old and Growing....

Owen had his 6 month check up today.

Weight: 16 lbs 1.5 oz (25th Percentile)

Height: 25.5 in (10th Percentile)

Head Circumference:  43 cm (50th Percentile)

This is a HUGE improvement from his first few months where he wasn't even
touching the growth curve.  While most babies follow a curve,
Owen has taken a straight diagonal line to
catch right up to the curve.
Pretty impressive!

I am SO happy he is doing so well and am SO excited to watch him learn new
things every single day.  One of the most exciting things is we
get to start him on solid foods now.
First up..Rice Cereal.
I am sure there will be a post or two to cover that adventure.  ;)

Our homework for the next couple of months:

1)  Practice sitting and work towards sitting unassisted

2)  Try to keep him off of his back as much as possible to give his head
a chance to round out a little more.

What does this mean for you little buddy??

More tummy time,

and more time in the jumper.

But you know I always have a soft spot for you and am easy to persuade....

"Mom, I am begging you, Please take me out of here!"

"Would a smile help my chances??"

"Here it is.  Here's my smile.  Can I come out now??"

Don't worry buddy.  Even with all of our tummy time and jumper time
we'll still have plenty of time to cuddle.
After all, you are my favorite little 6 Month Old.  :)

Weekend with Mom

Ryan was in Las Vegas for the weekend,
but Owen and I managed to find plenty of things to keep ourselves busy.

On Friday we met our good friends the Elseners and the Peros at the pool.
Owen and Graham got a little bit of pool time, but then decided a nice relaxing poolside
nap sounded like the perfect way to end the afternoon.

And the Mommy's got what we had been looking forward to after our last 4 failed attempts
to come to the pool....Poolside Cheese Fries!!!!  Delicious!!

Then Owen and I were very lucky to have my mom come and visit us for the weekend.
It was going to be a lonely weekend with just Owen and I,
so I was VERY excited when she decided to come.

We started our day bright and early Saturday with breakfast at one of our new
favorite spots, Grandma Sally's.  With a bacon, egg and cheese breakfast quesadilla
how can it not be one of our favorites??

Then we spent the day walking, shopping, and finished with movies on the Hallmark Channel.

It was the perfect weekend and I was very lucky to have someone to keep me company.
Thank you so much for visiting Mom!!  I appreciate you driving down
more than you know.  I always have such a great time with you
when you are here and I'm already looking forward
to your next visit.

LOVE YOU!!!!

Simple Pleasures

Sometimes there is nothing more fun....

Than just laying in bed and kicking your feet up.
