Boat Rides with Grandpa

Today we spent a good portion of the day with my dad.  Instead of driving to the Country
Club, we met him at Harry's and took the boat there.  The boys love being able to ride on,
and more importantly, drive the boat.

Sarah, Ben and Alex came into town for a few days so they met us at the pool.  Owen and Joe love hanging out with them, and they helped Owen perfect his dives.

After the pool we hopped back on the boat and made it back to shore
right before a storm hit, thank goodness!

I have a feeling we will get some good naps in today after all that swimming!

Merrill Fair

The boys and I had so much fun staying with my mom and Larry earlier this summer that we
decided to come back for another full week.  Ryan drove up with us on Friday so he could
spend the weekend with us.  In true Saturday morning tradition, we started our day off with
breakfast at Tri-City.  Sydney was in town visiting my aunt Diane, so we were
able to spend some time with her which was nice.

After breakfast we took the boys to the county fair in Merrill.  We went last year and had
a great time, so we figured it would be fun to make a return visit.  My mom even
bought the boys cowboy hats to help them fit in.

We checked out the animals,

the boys went on some rides,

and we tried our luck with the games.

It was the perfect way to start out our week at Grandma's.

Zoo Camp

This week is one of the weeks we've been looking forward to all summer....zoo camp!!

I'd heard great things about it and figured Owen would love it (unfortunately Joe is still too
young to go).  Owen spent the mornings exploring all the zoo had to offer,
and Joe, Miles and I did a little exploring of our own.

One morning we met Joe's friend Heinz and his little sister Maggie at the zoo.

Miles and Maggie were so sweet together.  Honestly, how cute are they?

X-rays

I'll give you one guess who is not happy to be getting x-rays of his teeth...

Morton Arboretum

Today's fun....the Morton Arboretum.  They have the most awesome children's garden.
There is so much for the kids to do.

The boys love anything with water so we spent most of our time in the pond and stream.

Ryan spotted a frog, so he and Joe attempted to catch it.

While we were walking along the stream we found small boats made out of wine corks,
toothpicks and pieces of laminated paper that someone had left.
The boys had so much fun racing them down the river.

Joe even convinced me to help him build a wall to try to trap Owen's boat so his boat
could win.  I have no idea where they get this competitiveness.  ;)

It was such a fun morning.  Days like today make my heart extra happy.
