Weekend Visitors

This past weekend Grandma, Grandpa, Aiden and even Bella came to visit us.  We always
love having them and this weekend was no exception.  Between Junction Diner, Brown Cow
ice cream parlor, Brookfield Zoo, the Museum of Science and Industry, pizza at Gino's East,
Aiden jumping off the high dive at the pool, breakfast at Grandma Sally's and a train ride
downtown packed full of pride parade attendees, we found plenty of things to keep us busy.

We fit as many fun things as we possibly could into a three day period, and even found time to squeeze in two of my mom's favorite destanations, Costco and Marshall's.  We were so
happy they came to visit and are already missing their company.  Love you guys!

Happy Father's Day!!

For Father's Day this year, Ryan opted for a low key day.  We started by taking Owen to
soccer, met Joe and Gerri for brunch, and then relaxed for the rest of the day.  Probably
a good thing we didn't have much planned because Joe came down with a fever of 104
and slept for almost the entire day.  :(

We still had a great day and these boys are so lucky to have such an amazing dad!
And speaking of lucky, even though we couldn't be with them, we're super lucky to have
these special dads in our lives too.  Love you guys!! Happy Father's Day!!

Spring Block Party

Today we had our spring block party.  As always, the boys had a blast and
Ryan and I were exhausted.  :)  Owen has matured to the point where we can let him be for
the most part which is awesome!  He plays with the other kids and as long as we keep tabs
on him every once in awhile, he's good.  Joe on the other hand is now in the stage where he
needs constant supervision.  Climbing up all of the neighbor's cement stairs, standing on top
of a slippery slide with a 2 feet deep pool on one end and concrete behind him...pretty much
any dangerous scenario you can think of, Joe's there checking it out.  Which means either
Ryan or I are always on his tail making sure he doesn't hurt himself.

I always look over at the group of our neighbors who are sitting there in a circle of chairs,
sipping cocktails and enjoying each other's company and think to myself...eventually that
will be us.  We have the youngest kids on the block.  Everyone else's kids are older and can
pretty much fend for themselves.  We'll be there one day.  Sipping our cocktails and
enjoying what is always a fantastic day.

Geronimo!!

Swim lessons are going great!!  I couldn't be any happier.
Day 2, and they gave the kids the option to jump off the diving board at the end of class.
Guess who wasted no time getting in line??

I was so proud of him.  The kid is fearless!  He can't even swim yet, but he has no problem jumping off a decently tall diving board (into his instructor's arms of course). ;)
Way to go Owen!!

And not to leave Joe out, he's having fun of his own these days.

First Day of Swim Lessons

Owen started swim lessons today.  We have done the parent tot classes before where I get
in and sing songs and bounce him in the water, but what's super exciting about these is that
I don't have to get in the water.  Joe and I get to sit alongside the pool and observe.  :)

I was a little nervous that he wouldn't stay sitting on the side while the instructor gave the
other kids their turns, but he did great!  He is one of only 4 kids in the class and they just sit
and play with each other on the side of the pool when it's not their turn.  What I really like is
the lessons are every day for 2 weeks.  I feel like him going every day as opposed to once
per week is better because everything he learns is still fresh in his head when he goes to
the next lesson.  We're already looking forward to tomorrow's lesson.

Squirt Gun Fight

It's been super hot these past few days, so what better way to cool off than with a
backyard squirt gun fight with Daddy?

My favorite part was Owen's shorts were too big so he was running around
the backyard flashing a partial moon the entire fight.  Pretty hilarious.

What a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon. :)
