Apple Picking

The temperature was finally cool enough to make it an OK day to go apple picking...one of
my favorite fall activities!  Even though apple picking starts in late August/early September,
we like to wait until it feels more like Fall.  It's just more comfortable.  :)

We rolled out of bed and got in the car so we could be at County Line Orchard right when it
opened.  The place turns into an absolute zoo, especially this time of the year, so we like to
get in and get out early.  Our timing worked out perfectly!  We pulled up and got front row
parking.  We started in the bakery with donuts to give us some fuel while we picked apples.

Then we took the tractor ride out to the orchard.

Let the picking begin!!

Tim, Val and the kids came and met us a little later, so we had a second round of picking.

Next stop on our visit...the Moo Choo Train.

And finally, the Kids Farm for some face/arm painting, tractor riding,

and Joe's all time favorite, Peter the Dinosaur.

Every hour Peter wakes up, talks to the kids and has them come up to the microphone to
tell jokes.  Miles was scared and wanted nothing to do with Peter this year, so he and I
waited off to the side eating a huge plate of fresh potato chips while Joe and Owen watched
Peter.  Joe was super brave and got up by himself and told a knock knock joke to Peter.
I can't vouch for how good the punch line was, but I was so proud of him!

We had such a fun day!!  I was a little bummed that by the time we got back to the bakery
the line was SUPER long and we couldn't get our normal donuts and pies to take home, but
thankfully we had a little taste earlier in the day.  Next year we'll get double.  ;)
