Ice Skating

One thing we don't too often with the kids is go ice skating.  I remember going to our school ice rink a lot when I was younger.  I don't know if it seems like more of a production here, or if it's too much work to figure out the free-skate schedule, or if maybe we're just too busy and don't get around to it....but whatever the case, we hardly ever go ice skating.

So when our friends asked us to go today, I was super excited to give it a try.  None of the kids have a ton of experience, and they each like to approach it a little differently.

Owen has no fear and takes off at full speed like he's been skating for years.  He's not super steady, but he'll skate at full speed...then crash at full speed when he loses his balance.  He brushes himself off, gets back up and does the same thing over and over again.  By the end, he was actually pretty good.

Miles is just learning, so he took things slow and pushed around one of the ice skate trainers to steady himself.

And Joe is a great mix of the two.  He started with one of the trainers to help steady himself, but eventually found his footing and braved the ice on his own.

I'm really proud of them, and excited we have something new to do with our friends.  Plus, I'm always looking for things to keep us busy in the winter, so this is perfect!
