A visit from the Tooth Fairy (and tooth Dinosaur)

An exciting event happened in our house yesterday afternoon...Owen lost his first tooth!!
It has been loose for a little while, but thankfully never got to the gross stage where it was
hanging from a thread.  He was standing in the kitchen with Ryan and said, "hey Dad,
I have a loose tooth."  He reached in his mouth to wiggle it and said "hey look!"  He pulled
out his hand and proudly held the tiny tooth up between his fingers.  It was that simple.
He was so excited and his new smile is really cute.

What's even more exciting is he got his first visit from the tooth fairy, and at his request,
the tooth dinosaur.  They brought him a little note thanking him for the tooth and a $2 bill,
both covered in magic tooth fairy dust.

He came into our room, opened the little envelope, took out the money and had Ryan read him the note.  He took his $2 and put it right in his piggy bank.  I love special things like the Tooth Fairy.  Sure it might take a little work, but it's so fun seeing them excited and happy.

Fall Soccer League

Fall soccer league started today for Owen and Joe.

Owen loves it, but it seems Joe is going to take a little more convincing.

I'm hoping that by having his friends Mila, Cuinn, Quinn and Emmett on the team will help.

And if that doesn't work, I can always bribe him with the snacks they get after their games.

No matter what...whether he grows to love soccer or not,
right now it's a fun way to spend our Saturday mornings as a family.

Little Brother

After having his older brothers pick on him for the last year, Miles is finally starting to fight
back.  His favorite target seems to be Joe.  I've seen him throw food on Joe from his high
chair while Joe is bending down to pick something up off the ground below him.  He'll walk
up to Joe while he's watching TV and try to hit him or take his lovies, and then there are
times like this video where he thinks it is hilarious to knock down anything Joe builds.
What's a little funny is he can legitimately make Joe upset.  Not that I like Joe to be upset,
but he's done his fair share of picking too.  My favorite part of the whole video is the look on
Joe's face when Miles swings at him.  It makes me laugh every time.

Don't worry Joe.  Before long Miles will be old enough to play right alongside you and Owen.
But in the meantime, watch out because he finds it hysterical to pick on you.

Owen's Self Portrait

Tonight I went to Owen's classroom for Curriculum Night where his teachers explained what
the kids would be learning throughout the year.  Before we left they told us to check out the
self portraits the kids had made.  Here is Owen's masterpiece.

The bright orange hair is my favorite.  Looking good Owen!

Joe's First Day of School

Today is Joe's first day in the Circle Room with Ms. Nancy and Ms. Megan.  I think it's safe
to say he's a little excited.  It's exciting because not only does he get to go four days a week
now, but some of his best friends are in this class (Cate, Henry and Hazel).  They are going
to have so much fun!  And it's fun for me because I get to see the mamas whom I'm friends
with too.  It also leaves Miles and I to ourselves for a little extra bonding time each morning.

Introducing Joe, the future Spinosaurus....

After I picked him up from school I took him to a special lunch of his choice.
Is it any surprise that he picked Culvers??  This kid can't get enough cheese curds.  ;)

Then it was home for a quick nap before heading out to pick up his buddies.

There were no tears walking into school today, no tears when I left, and he seemed
genuinely happy to be there.  He's grown up so much since last year at this time
and I know he's going to have so much fun in the Circle room.

Just the Three of Us

Even though Owen started school, Joe doesn't start until after Labor Day.  He, Miles and I
have been making the most of our last free days together going to the zoo, having play
dates with friends, playing at the park, etc.

And although we have a lot of fun, Joe definitely misses Owen and looks forward to walking
to school to pick him and Asher up.  The older boys are so good to him and they play really
well together which makes me happy, and of course makes Joe happy too.
