Rainforest Cafe

To keep the celebration going, we brought the boys to Rainforest Cafe,
one of their favorite restaurants, for a birthday lunch.

There are not many times I would spend $15 on a dessert, but for the boy who loves brownies, how can you pass up this massive volcano dessert made of brownies??

Joe's Bestie Birthday Party

This morning I had some of Joe's best buddies over to help him celebrate his big day.
Cate, Hazel, Henry, Heinz, Cuinn (and siblings).

We painted pumpkins,

ate some lunch,

celebrated with dragon cupcakes, complete with orange spikes,

and Joe opened up his gifts.

The rest of the time was spent playing, and most of all, being silly.

In case you are wondering what makes four toddlers laugh this hard...the word poop!
Thanks friends for making Joe's birthday extra special.

Waking Up as a 4 year Old

Today Joe woke up to birthday decorations and a pile of presents waiting for him.
It's his 4th birthday...yay!!

He opened up his gifts to find a deck of cards with his picture on them, a baby Mickey Mouse he had been wanting, and an orange robot dragon.  Back story, when we asked Joe
what kind of birthday party he wanted this year, he told us an orange robot dragon birthday.

Once he unwrapped the gifts he was ready for his birthday breakfast of choice...
a chicken sandwich with a candle in it.  Some kids would request pancakes or french toast.
Not Joe.  50 seconds in the microwave and his favorite Costco chicken melt sandwich
was ready to go.  Between the orange robot dragon birthday and the chicken sandwich,
this is a kid who knows what he wants.

Happy birthday Joe!!  We hope we got your morning off to a happy start
and are excited to help you keep celebrating all day long.

Joe's Birthday Treat

Today Miles and I visited Joe at school to help him celebrate his birthday.  Joe is really into dragons these days, so I read Dragons Love Tacos to his class.

Then we brought in a special snack to share.  Joe's snack of choice...
Fruity Cheerios and fruit snacks.  There are gluten and nut allergies in his class, so our choices were a little limited.  If it were up to him, he'd probably want to bring in chocolate donut holes from Dunkin' Donuts.  ;)

When it was time for everyone to go home, Joe stood by the door and happily passed out a small goody bag to each of his classmates with a small toy dragon and a sticky hand in it.  He was so happy and proud.

Joe's birthday celebration has officially begun!!

Miles' Boo Boo

We had a bit of a traumatic start to our morning today.  While we were upstairs getting
dressed for the day, Miles tripped and hit his head on the boys' dresser drawer.  Even
though he can walk and even run like a champ, he's still a little wobbly at times.
Unfortunately this morning was one of those times.  I heard him fall and start crying so I
went in thinking a hug would make everything better.  That's when I saw the blood and the
giant cut and realized it was going to take a lot more than a hug to fix this boo boo.

Thankfully with the help of a few friends who got the older boys to school, and a visit to
urgent care, everything was calm again.  Since the cut was pretty straight and not too deep,
they were able to close it with glue instead of stitches.  Way less traumatic of a process for
both Miles and I, so we were happy.  It was still a pretty rough morning though,
so we were excited to get out of there and go watch Owen's Fun Run.

Owen's Fun Run

Even though this morning got off to a rocky start,
we pulled it together in time to cheer on Owen in his very first Fun Run.

Miles was all glued up and ready to cheer his brother on.

The kindergartners got all pumped up,

then headed to the starting line.

They were all so excited and ready to go.  When they got the OK to start, Owen took off
running and was one of the first to make it around the circle.  Then they continued to run
around and around and around until their 15 minutes was up.

Totally worth it for some mid morning popsicles.
And I'm sure their teachers enjoyed them expending a little extra energy.

We had so much fun watching you Owen.  Awesome job on your first fun run!!

Zoo Day

The boys had the day off school for Columbus Day,
so we decided to take advantage of our free time and head to the zoo.
