I am embarrassed to admit it, but something that gives me anxiety is getting the boys hair
cut. They have such beautiful, fine, silky, shiny hair. I absolutely love how it looks when it is
longer, side parted and brushed neatly to one side. Because of this, I am terrified to take
them to get their hair cut because I'm convinced I'm going to leave the salon with two boys
looking like Lloyd from Dumb and Dumber. No matter how much I stress I like their hair
long, it somehow ends up too short. In fact, last time I thought she did a great job, but when
we went back and looked at pictures, they looked super silly.
Fast forward to a week or two ago. I was on Facebook and happened to see a post on my
about where in Oak Park to take boys with longer hair to get their hair cut. Seeing as how
the boys' hair was looking quite disheveled these days I figured it was a sign. There were
multiple recommendations for a man named Mario at Salon 212. I figured I couldn't let the
hair go much longer, so I might as well give it a try. It would always grow back, after all.
Owen went first so Joe could see how it was done. The last place we went she dry cut their
hair, so it was Owen's first time ever getting his hair shampooed.
He was a little apprehensive, but he did great.
Mario put a Cars movie on his iPad and let Owen sit back and relax while he went to work. Owen kept fairly still for him and Joe kept busy in the stroller patiently waiting his turn.
When Joe's turn came he wanted nothing to do with sitting on his own. I held him on my
lap while he sat, stood, jumped...pretty much the opposite of staying still. Thankfully Mario
has 3 kids of his own and was super patient. Plus, Joe didn't need that much cut off
so it worked out well. Just a little in the front to get the bangs out of his eyes,
and a cleanup in the back to get rid of the almost mullet he was rocking.

Though neither wanted me to smile or showcase their hair for me, the cuts turned out great and were exactly what I was looking for. We will definitely be returning to see Mario again.
