With all of the energy Owen has, I thought what better thing to get him involved in
than soccer. I was SO excited to go try it out this morning. I figured he would love it and
it would be something fun that he and Ryan could do together. Well unfortunately
the day didn't go how I expected it to go. Owen wanted no part of the class.
He was happier going off and exploring on his own.
Ryan did manage to get him in the group a few times, but it was clear Owen felt a little
uncomfortable and believe it or not, shy.
There was one point during the class where they all lined up at one end of the field and all
they had to do was run to the opposite side. Run?? Perfect! He's a pro at that.
Nope. The one time he had free reign to run at full speed, he stood completely
still and watched all the other kids barrel down the field.
Needless to say Owen was not the happiest camper when we left. We didn't want to push
it and he was clearly not having a great time so we thought we'd hang up his cleats and
try again fresh next week. Maybe he was having a rough day and he'll feel much
better when we try it again later. If not, no worries. I'm sure we'll have our fair
share of organized sports in the future.
